Never one to shy away from a statement, Cyrus juxtaposed old Hollywood waves and a classic smoky eye against her barely-there brows. The dark brown set of arches that last appeared behind Cyrus's fringe at SNL50: The Anniversary Special just over two weeks ago, had been bleached to oblivion for this year's Academy Awards.
Traditionally bleached eyebrows are thought of as harsh and unforgiving. Granted, they're likely to reel you in a double take or two, but rather Cyrus proved this week that the look can be softened. Rather than going all out grunge, Cyrus chose to prove that bleached brows can be glamorous.
It's not clear yet who was behind Cyrus's Oscars look last night, though make-up artist to the stars James Kaliardos is a hot contender. Kaliardos was behind Cyrus's make-up at SNL's Anniversary Special, the Grammys and the Golden Globes recently, so it stands to reason that he was part of her Oscars glam squad too - stay tuned. Whoever was behind the look can be credited with polishing up their client's new brow look with a shimmering brown smoky eye (the diffusion on that eyeliner is Pinterest-worthy), lit-from-within skin, seamless contouring and a nude lip that's the stuff of 90's dreams.

Kendall Jenner, Nicola Peltz Beckham and Jade Thirwall have all dabbled with the look and it's worth noting that they all quickly reverted back to their natural brow colour too. Before you commit to a permanent colour change, why not try a wash-off version first? A new generation of highly pigmented brow gels mean you can sample the effects of going a few shades lighter the easy way. Not all of us have a glam squad ready and willing to tend to or rectify any bleaching mishaps at our disposal, after all.
