Madonna’s daughter Lourdes has made her first foray into modelling as one of the stars of Stella McCartney’s latest fragrance campaign.
The 19-year-old performing arts student, who is nicknamed Lola, appears alongside musician Grimes (aka Claire Boucher), actress and campaigner Amandla Stenberg and activist Kenta Kinski Jones in the campaign for Stella’s new POP fragrance.
It’s the first time that Lola, who is currently studying at the University of Michigan, has stepped in front of the camera.
In an Instagram post, Stella said ‘So happy to have Lola on the POP team! Lola, who I’ve known her entire life, is at the beginning of her career as a performance artist. She’s an independent, inspirational and free-spirited young woman. Despite being born in the spotlight, she has kept her feet firmly on the ground!’
The campaign was shot by legendary photographer Glen Luchford, and sees the four girls embarking on a road trip through the California desert. Speaking to Womenswear Daily, Stella said ‘It’s a real, very personal casting. We wanted to try and set a precedent for a new way to look at beauty, and a new way to just talk about how young women are allowed to be.’
Proud mum Madonna, who is close friends with Stella, shared a behind the scenes snap of Lourdes shooting the campaign on Instagram captioned ‘I miss this beautiful girl,’ followed by a lot of emojis. Looks like Madonna is just as emoji-happy as every mum in a family Whatsapp group, then…
POP is Stella’s first new fragrance in four years, combining bold tuberose with sandalwood to create a scent that’s both modern and feminine.
POP launches later this month in Stella McCartney stores and at www.stellamccartney.com, and will be available nationwide from July.
