As Sir Mix-A-Lot once said - I like big brows and I cannot lie (or something along those lines) and in 2020 our love for big, bold, brushed up and bushy brows is going nowhere fast. Audrey Hepburn, Brooke Shields, Cara Delevingne – we’ve had many a brow crush over the decades, each of whom has inspired us to relegate the tweezers to bottom beauty drawer forevermore (ok, maybe not forever, because, you know, maintenance and all). Our most recent brow obsession? One Jodie Comer, aka Killing Eve’s Villanelle and our lockdown brow hero.
During the lockdown months Jodie has taken to many a Zoom video chat, dishing out plenty of lockdown style inspo (University sweater, we’re looking at you) in the process. But the thing (or rather, things) we truly can’t get enough of are the arches above her eyes. Sometimes wilder, sometimes darker (perhaps a DIY browdye job at work?), sometimes on the groomed side of the spectrum – she’s rocked them all, and we’re into the lot. Are you with us? (We knew we liked you!) So, without further ado, we chart her virtual brow journey…
Bedhead Brows
On the left of the image, a brow with a mind of its own. And we love a brow that breaks away from the crowd.
Au Naturel
No added extras here (that we can detect, anyhow) – just her naturally God-given arches framing her face and doing their thing.
Zoomed and Groomed
We spot some grooming action. And perhaps a little pencil (to fill in any gaps) and fibre gel (to pump up the volume).
Front Runner
The front, inner corner of the brows looks plumped up and perhaps styled into place, while the outer corners don’t look so restricted. We’re into this half-groomed, half-natural look.
Out, Out Arches
We’d be smiling if we had those perfectly defined, potentially DIY dyed arches too, Jodie. All. The. Brow. Goals.
Which is your favourite Jodie Comer eyebrow look?
We know. It’s hard to choose just one, right? Let’s go with all of them. And then, while we’re at it, let’s discuss our own arches, which have been left by the Government to their own devices for far too long now (so a guy can get his beard trimmed but we can’t have our brows waxed?).
We say the bulkier and bushier the better, but if you are looking to dabble in some at-home maintenance, follow our fool proof DIY threading video, by Grazia beauty writer Emma Stoddart…
Or, if you’re wanting to make the most of your brows au naturel, invest in one of these tried and tested brow serums, pencils, pens or microfibre gels. All of which deliver good brow days, guaranteed.
