The Grazia Summer Beauty Awards 2021
The Budge-Proof Mascara: Pat McGrath Labs Dark Star Mascara, £26
For long-lasting lashes that don't smudge at the first hurdle (we're looking at you, humidity), this new mascara from legendary make-up artist Pat McGrath is up there with the very best. Its thick, curved brush applies just the right amount of formula for impressive volume and curl. Simply opt for a single slow swipe for a natural look, or layer it up for maximum impact.
The Heroic Highlighter: Vieve Skin Dew, £19
Make-up artist and content creator, Jamie Genevieve (with 1.4m Instagram followers and counting) has done it again with her eponymous beauty line's latest release. Dot the multipurpose highlighting cream anywhere you like – we recommend cheekbones, the bridge of the nose and underneath the arch of your brows – for a healthy-looking glow. Or, if you're looking to up the ante, get layering for a glossy sheen.
The Top Notch Glow Giver: Olay Regenerist Glow Day Moisturiser SPF 30, £35
Laced with vitamin B3, which helps to strengthen your skin's natural protective barrier, this mighty moisturiser stood out from the competition for it's glow giving abilities. The key ingredient? Glycerin - which holds onto moisture on the surface of your skin, making it a godsend for these dry(ish) summer months.
The Wanderlust Scent For Her: Christian Dior Beauty La Collection Privée Eden Roc, £220 for 125ml
Inspired by the iconic French Riviera hotel, Dior Eden Roc is guaranteed to give you wanderlust. Think sun-baked skin and fresh ocean air mingled with earthy pine trees and you get the gist. It's summer in the South of France, bottled.
The Perfect Staycay Polish: Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish, £9.99
Little hits the spot quite like freshly painted tips and toes – and out of all the formulas we tried this one came up top. The large, flat brush makes for fuss-free application – never to be underestimated when it comes to a DIY mani – and the high-gloss formula serves up salon levels of shine.
The Summer Ready Lip: Bobbi Brown Crushed Shine Jelly Stick, £25
There's a lot to love with these new jelly sticks. Firstly, the dinky crayon-like design makes application on-the-go a breeze, while hyaluronic acid and sweet cherry oil keep lips feeling supple and soft. With six shades to choose from – covering everything from blackberry purples to rosé pinks - there's a little something for everyone.
The Bonafide Body Hero: Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Crème de Soleil Decadent Smoothing Body Crème, £38
More of a luxurious lightweight lotion than a heavy cream, its blend of natural oils – we're talking apricot kernel, rice bran and grape seed – leave skin feeling smooth and supple. Then there's the scent. If that classic Bronze Goddess combo of coconut and citrus scents doesn't scream summer we don't know what does.
The Ultimate Bronzer: Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream, £43
Chanel's iconic cream-gel bronzer is now available in Deep Bronze – a new shade for darker skin tones. Use a large fluffy brush to swirl on cheekbones, across the bridge of your nose and along your temples - anywhere the sun would naturally hit - for a radiant, sun-kissed glow. Oh, and the jumbo jar will last you ages; we're talking 2022 and beyond.
The Unbeatable Summer Base: Gucci Fluide De Beauté Fini Naturel Foundation available in 40 shades, £46
We're all about switching up our base for summer and are forever on the hunt for formulas that deliver luminous, lightweight, long-wearing coverage that crucially cares for our skin, too (a must now that face masks are a mainstay). With skincare benefits (including glycerine to hydrate) we were collectively wow-ed by this second-skin, light-to-medium coverage base.
The All-Round Summer Skin Saviour: Susanne Kaufmann Face Gel Matte, £53
We've found it – the ultimate moisturiser for those wanting to boost hydration while swerving shine and oil. Ultra-lightweight and impressively hydrating, the formula – featuring a combo of apple essence and plant-based hyaluron - gets a gold star from us.
The Wanderlust Scent For Him: Creed Viking Cologne, £175 for 50ml, £240 for 100ml
With bergamot, lemon, mandarin and pink pepper – they've cherry-picked the most refreshing summer scents out there and made them spritz-able.
The Foolproof Fake Tan: Vita Liberata Heavenly Elixir Tan, £34
This is not your average fake tan. This is a slow releasing, hydrating, cocoa-scented wonder that delivers a natural result on all skin tones. The guide colour makes application fool-proof, and the formula is so hydrating that you need never worry about patchiness again. Expect 'you look so well!' compliments.
The Five Star Facial Shield: La Roche Posay Anthelios Age Correct SFP50+, £25
Not only does this SPF-meets-moisturiser ward off spots and pigmentation – that's thanks to an ingredient called PHE-resorcinol, which slows down melanin production – but it's also laced with 4% niacinamide and hyaluronic acid; a power couple of ingredients that hydrate and strengthen skin in tandem.
The Savviest Body SPF: Lancaster Sun Sensitive Oil-Free Body Milk SPF50, £25
If you're after a sun cream that goes the extra mile, make a play for this iteration from Lancaster. Lightweight and residue-free, the formula delivers that all-important protection from both UVA and UVB rays, as well as a nifty Lancaster-born complex that soothes irritation caused by the sun.
