In a world saturated by new beauty launches, it’s something of rarity when a brand generates genuine excitement among beauty editors the world over. But that’s just what French fashion house Celine achieved when it revealed its first foray into the world of make-up yesterday.
Announced on the March 12th at director Hedi Slimane’s ‘La Collection de l’Arc de Triomphe’ showcase in Paris, a teaser film revealed Celine's inaugural makeup offering - Celine Beauté. The announcement comes five years after Slimane reintroduced fragrance into the Celine sphere.
The Celine Beauté debut? A single, satin red lipstick embossed with the iconic logo and housed in chic, gold bullet which will be available from autumn. Following that, the house has announced a further 15 shades of lipsticks which will be available in early 2025.
The CELINE BEAUTÉ collection will launch this autumn with the first satin lipstick shade ROUGE TRIOMPHE
Of the launch, the fashion house says, ‘The creation of Celine Beauté comes to enrich the cultural roots, promoting a French idea of femininity and allure, distilled over the last five years by Hedi Slimane in his new institutional codes for the Maison Celine.’
The maison has announced that each season will reveal new beauty launches comprising of 'lip balms, mascaras, eyeliners, loose powder, blush cases and nail polishes, etc,' suggesting it will eventually become an all-encompassing beauty capsule.
Celine have said it is expanding its Bath & Body range via four new products also set to launch in autumn - a liquid soap, body milk, hand cream and hair mist. Developed and custom made by Hedi Slimane himself, according to the house, each formula will 'faithfully reproduce the collection's olfactory signature.' Fans can expect signature scents - Parada, La Peau Neu, Reptile and Cologne Céleste fragrances, while the hair mist will be available in the Parade, Reptile and Black Tie.
Where price point is concerned, there’s no denying that Celine Beauté is likely to be aimed at true luxury beauty aficionados – expect an extravagant affair with extravagant pricing to match.
Of course, Celine is far from the first fashion brand making a foray into the world of beauty. In the past few months alone we’ve seen Rabanne’s much celebrated beauty range go viral across social media while Prada’s skincare and make-up line sold out within days of launching.
Celine Beauté? We're predicting big things.
