If there's one time of year that it's pretty much mandatory to change up your everyday makeup look it's Christmas, and given that this is also the end of the decade, why not go all out? This could be the season you FINALLY give that bold red lip a go, or take that smokey eye from a smoldering shade of brown to a Debbie-Harry-worthy black shadow.
It could be the year you ditch your comfort blanket nude shade of lippy in favour of a deep, dark cherry shade, or swap out a bare eyelid for mermaid levels of shimmery shadow. It is time to throw caution to the wind and try something new and sparkly. And who better to inspire us on our way, than the celebs who have a high end team of makeup artists at their beck and call? Think Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Lizzo, Saoirse Ronan, to name just a few. We've dipped into their Instagram feeds, to see which looks they loved enough to bestow a permanent place on their grid, and added a few words of wisdom alongside each one to boot.
Go forth and be inspired, there are some real beauties on show.

Look 1: The Merlot Mouth
Jourdan Dunn takes wine lips to the next glorious level with this deep purple shade of lipstick. It's a look we saw a few times in the Spring/Summer '20 shows and Kaia Gerber wore it particularly well at the Max Mara show in Milan. Pick up your lippy of choice, dab on as a subtle stain with your fingertips, and build up in light layers for greater pigment payoff that lasts.
Look 1: Why Not Try - NARS Sensual Satin Lipstick in Opulent Red, £22
Look 2: On The Lash
The key players in this look, for me, are Lizzo's lashes. Upping the volume, length and curl beyond the powers of mascara really open up her eyes and make for some serious flutter power. If you are yet to master the art of false lashes, why not dabble in a few semi-permanent lash extensions? Book in an appointment now and they'll last you through to 2020.
Look 2: Why Not Try - Lash Perfect In A Strip #3, £10.79
Or alternatively visit lashperfect.co.uk to find a local technician to masterfully apply a semi-permanent more natural looking set.
Look 3: Mermaid Lids
Look closely and you'll see that Hailey Bieber's gorgeous eye 'do' is made up of at least three different shades of shadow, so arm yourself with an extensive palette of shimmering powders for this one and get blending. Fade through from one strong colour to another, and don't be afraid of mixing blues with greens, purples with turquoises etc. The more ethereal the overall effect the better. Make sure to match with a good sweep of highlighter across the cheekbones too, and keep your lips understated, Hailey's nude shade of lipstick is the perfect accompaniment.
Look 3: Why Not Try - Ciaté London Eye Palette in Fun, £29
Look 4: Luxed-Up Liner
I am head over heels for this beauty look. It's understated but really packs a glamour punch. Seek out a taupe, bronze or rich tan shade of soft, blendable eyeliner, and take it across both your upper and lower lash line before blending, and smudging away to a gorgeous diffused look with a small brush. Add a slick of mascara, a sweep of bronzer and a dab of a blush shade of lippy onto lips. Make sure to define your brows too, this really helps to enhance the beautiful eye makeup.
Look 4: Why Not Try - Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Smog, £15.50
Look 5: Golden Eye
You can always rely on Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to serve up five star beauty and this year has proved no exception. This gold take on a smokey eye is incredibly wearable and easier than you might think to achieve. Using a bright yellow gold shade with serious pigment pay off (across the surface area of the lid) alongside a darker version of the same tone (in the sockets) will give you the desired effect.
Look 5: Why Not Try - Yves Saint Laurent Sequin Crush Mono Glitter Shot Eyeshadow in Legendary Gold, £26
Look 6: Slicked-On Lustre
Emily Ratajkowski normally favours a no-makeup-makeup look, but here she's really upped the ante in the liner department and I love it. The beauty of this look is there's no need to be too perfect or precise, because as soon as you've applied that liner, you're going in with a small brush to smudge it all up.
Look 6: Why Not Try - Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Kajal Liner in Noir, £19.50
