Becca Cosmetics Closing

In heart-breaking beauty news that has sent shockwaves through the make-up community, Becca Cosmetics has announced that it will be shutting down in September this year. Creator of one of our absolute favourite highlighters, Becca has continued to serve up a radiant glow like no other and it’s safe to say that so many of us will be devastated to see this beloved brand go.

On Wednesday 24th February, the brand posted the announcement on their Instagram grid, to say: ‘An important message to our Becca Beauties: Glowing with Gratitude. You’re all of our Becca family – part of this beautiful community that supports us and shares our values. It’s because of our love for each of you that we are sharing with you now some very important news about the closing of our brand in September 2020.’

The caption went on to provide more details around why the brand is closing:

‘The global pandemic has had an impact on everyone around the world on many levels. It has also had a tremendous impact on so many businesses. At BECCA, an accumulation of challenges, together with the global impact of COVID-19, has sadly been more than our business can withstand, and we have had to make the heartbreaking decision to close down the BECCA brand at the end of September 2021.

‘We believe in you, and we believe that the beauty inside you is the light you share with the world. We are confident that the spirit of BECCA will continue to live on through all of you. Please keep illuminating your true selves. Light your own paths and push your limits. Share positivity and light the way for others as you make an impact on this world. Own your light on your own terms.’

Fans responded to the news with an outpour of love for the brand, saying how saddened and shocked they are. ‘I’m so sad to hear this, I will cherish every single BECCA product…there’s nothing like that BECCA GLOW,’ read one Instagram comment. Another said, ‘Oh this is so sad. We’re all going to be bulk buying Backlight Priming Filter, Ignite and Champagne Pop...Becca always did glow best!’

Adored for their glow-giving products, Becca Cosmetics was founded in Australia back in 2001 before crossing the pond to the UK later that year. In 2016, the brand was bought by Estée Lauder Companies and continued to launch skin-savvy formulations loved by myriad A-listers (including Chrissy Teigen) and influencers alike for their wondrous ability to create a natural, juicy glow.

Thankfully, there’s still a few months to stockpile our favourite Becca Cosmetics products. Here’s Team Grazia’s favourite picks:

Becca First Light Priming Filter, £28

'This crazy lightweight product was the first primer I 100% got on board with. It's packed with my favourite skincare ingredient hyaluronic acid (the moisture magnet!) so keeps my combination skin congestion-free and yet hydrated all day long. That cool violet tone brightens my skin and evens out skin tone in one. My skin looks great and my makeup stays put. I'll miss this dearly!' - Annie Vischer, Beauty Editor

Becca Zero No Pigment Glass Highlighter For Face and Lip, £18

'This was a relatively new launch for Becca. An innovative take on highlighter that served up a dewy glow wherever you wanted to apply it. I tap it into the skin across the tops of my cheekbones, my eyelids and onto my lips for that just-walked-out-of-my-facial-appointment level of luminosity.' - Annie Vischer, Beauty Editor

Becca Sunlit Bronzer, £27

'This soft creamy bronzer perks up my complexion like a dream and never cakes up. I could always rely on the beautifully natural shade to give barely-there results too. It was always one of my summer holiday must-haves.' - Annie Vischer, Beauty Editor

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector, £14

'Becca cosmetics have really served up some of the best glow-giving products around. This concealer, which I first tried at a press event a few years ago, is a godsend for tired, dark under eye circles. It's amazing, you just pat it on and instantly your eyes look brighter and more awake. I'll be stockpiling this by the bucketload!' – Emma Stoddart, Senior Beauty Writer
