Whether you’re venturing out to a Christmas gathering or two, catching up with family and friends or hunkering down with a loved one, get out your beauty stash and dial up your eye make-up with our expert tips and tricks from make-up maestro, Lisa Potter-Dixon, who reveals that you can achieve a modern party eye look in less than five minutes.

‘Christmas is all about sparkle, so why not add it your make-up look, too,' says Lisa – and she’s right. December is the time to make a statement with your make-up and now, more than ever, we should take advantage of its mood-boosting abilities. Think joyful vibrant hues, glossy finishes and a lot of glitter. Follow Lisa's pro-level tips to get the look:

Go For Glitter Eye Make-up

For Lisa, Glitter is an absolute must. 'I adore Stila’s Magnificent Metals, £24, it's so easy to use, just pat it onto the centre of the lid, or blend all over the eye.' It's so pigmented that it doesn't require a base colour underneath either.

For glitter first-timers, try easing your way in with a simple slick of glittery black liner or take inspiration from Bella Hadid's catwalk look (pictured above) and wear your glitter under your lower lash line for a lived-in party eye effect.

Be Creative With Colourful Eyeshadow

Party season is all about having fun so why not experiment with some bold, colourful eye make-up? Lisa adores jewel-toned shadows - 'Emerald greens, navy blues and rich coppers work well on all skin tones and can create a stunning finish,' she says.

For ease and speed, opt for a pressed, pigmented glitter shadow that can be swiped on with your fingertips. 'The Victoria Beckham Beauty Lid Lustre in Midnight, £30, is a beautiful royal blue. If you fancy going green, nothing beats Blitz Emerald in Pat McGrath’s Mothership 2 Palette, £115.'

Pair Back The Rest Of Your Look

'Dewy, beautiful skin and a fresh cheek is the best formula to accompany a bold eye,' advises Lisa. You don't want your features to have to compete with each other, so if your lips are the focus keep your eyes soft and vice-versa. 'Go for a nude lip if you're doing a glitter, colourful eye look.' We love Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk, £25, a soft pink nude.
