If you’re anything like me, you’ve often browsed the Sephora website, wishing you could afford the shipping costs for all your fave beauty brands.
I’m sure you know that Sephora are the leading people in global prestige retail, over in the US. They offer a range of brands from the classics, like Chanel, and the new beauty kids on the block such as Kat Von D and Fenty Beauty.
The only down side of Sephora is that it wasn’t until 2014 that they offered UK shipping. Even with those kind offerings from the Sephora gods, shipping still starts at a relatively pricey £6. Added to that, their will-they-won’t-they approach to opening a UKstore has me crying into my makeup brushes.
Well, it’s time I dry my tears because German e-retail site (and arguably Europe’s biggest online fashion store) Zalando could be the answer to all of our worries. Since 2008, Zalando have brought together high end and high street brands, with free standard delivery. I’ll repeat that, free standard delivery. All. Of. The. Time.
On this very day, Zalando are expanding into the beauty market. German customers will be the first to enjoy their brand-new category and they’ve got plans to extend the offering further to other markets, after a successful ramp-up stage.
Rubin Ritter, co-CEO of the company said
‘The expansion into the beauty market is a natural next step and reflects the demands of the customers.’
This new venture could be extremely useful to customers. You’ll be able to complete a look with the right beauty products and receive full style advice from a broad range of brands that have a broad range of prices.
L'Oréal Paris and Maybelline are just a couple of examples from an assortment of a whopping 120 brands. They’ve even promised that male products will be available in the autumn/winter of this year. Hold tight my UK based guys and gals, our time will come.
