Whatever the Winona Ryder version of the McConnaisance is (you know, the revival of Matthew McConaughey’s career, when he went from bad rom-com leading man to bonafide serious actor), it’s happening. Not only is she currently captivating audiences yet again as put-upon mother Joyce Byers in Netflix’s cult series Stranger Things (now confirmed for a third season, yay!) she’s also secured a coveted new role: that of L’Oreal Paris’s latest brand ambassador.
As the face of L'Oréal's Elvive Hair Care's new campaign, she’ll be promoting the brand’s range of products that help treat dry, damaged hair, bringing it back to a healthy condition. As senior vice president of marketing at L’Oréal Paris, Anne Marie Nelson-Bogle, told WWD: ‘Everyone does love a comeback, and we will be communicating that damaged hair deserves one, too. For Winona, we know that from TV sets to the red carpet, her hair has gone through many transformations—her hair is dry and damaged.’
Known for being one of the biggest and most bankable actresses of the ‘90s and ‘00s, she rose to fame in gothic roles in Beetle Juice, Edward Scissorhands and Heathers, before winning an Oscar for her turn as Susannah Kaysen in Girl, Interrupted. Not to mention being one half of the coolest couple of the decade as the girlfriend of Johnny Depp. Her edgy style from the time still inspires us to this day.
Winona Forever!
