For those of us who regularly take up residence in our favourite salon and while away the hours as our strands are bleached and toned, the term Olaplex is fairly familiar, but just in case you're a newbie to the brand, allow us to fill you in.

The process of colouring hair regularly, particularly when it involves taking the colour lighter causes a lot of collateral damage to hair via bond breakage, which is why the advent of Olaplex was a saviour for bottle blondes. Olaplex was made to both protect hair from further damage during the colouring process, and also to repair some of the damage that has already been done. Pretty miraculous right? This product bestowed serious results too, as was evident to see, when peroxide regulars waxed lyrical about the difference it was making to their hair.

The catch with Olaplex is that it is only available as an in-salon treatment, unless you try out their shampoo and conditioner which are both imbibed with the patented Olaplex bond strengthening formula. At £25.85 a pop though, you've got to be willing to spend.

Hold on though, what's that? A gap in the market? Did anyone else spot that? Hair care brand Knight & Wilson certainly did. Enter the eerily similar sounding Pureplex Revolutionary Hair Repair System, £12.99, now available at Superdrug. The product make similar claims to Olaplex, to help repair damage from over bleaching, colouring, styling, chemicals and heat. All boxes seem to be ticked quite nicely there.

This buy isn't any old dupe though, if the sensational reviews are to be believed, the formula is working wonders. One shout out reads ''The product I SWEAR by to save my damaged hair!', and another 'My hair looks so thick and glossy! The Knight & Wilson Pureplex has honestly done bits'. Moral of the story? Want 'bits done' to your colour worn hair but would rather stay in than hit up the salon? Head on over to Superdrug.
