Fun fact, red hair is statistically the rarest hair colour on the planet - less than two percent of people are born with it. When it comes to hair colour transformations though, more and more people are being drawn to the fiery shade - Emily Ratajkowski included, who joined the likes of Julia Fox, Rihanna and Lindsay Lohan in experimenting with a red hair colour transformation only this week.

Taking to her Instagram grid last night, Ratajkowski revealed a captivating new hair colour blend of rich copper and fiery auburn. The master behind the look? None other than celebrity hairstylist Jenna Perry. Ratajkowski also gave a special shout out to the Kérastase Chroma Absolu, which she says keeps her hair healthy post colour treatment.

So what exactly are you waiting for? With such a wealth of colour variations, hues, shades and tones to choose from, there are so many options to play with and a red hair look for everyone. Scroll to see our guide below.

How To Maintain Red Hair

Your Red Hair Care Regime

First things first, you want to make sure you're using a shampoo and conditioner specifically formulated for colour-treated hair. These products will help protect your hair from fading and keep your red hair colour looking fresh.

Another tip to keep your red looking vibrant is to avoid washing your hair too often. The more you wash your hair, the more you're rinsing away your colour. Red hair is one of the toughest colours to maintain. Try to limit washing to every other day or even every three days to keep your colour in tip top condition for longer.

If you're looking for a quick touch-up, consider using a colour-depositing shampoo or conditioner. These products can help revive your red colour between salon visits.

Lay Off The Heat If You Have Red Hair

Next, try to avoid heat styling tools as much as possible. The heat can cause your colour to fade and damage your hair. If you must use heat tools, make sure to use a heat protectant spray to minimise damage.

Don't Be Scared To See Your Stylist

Finally, don't be afraid to see a professional stylist for regular touch-ups. They'll be able to keep your colour looking fresh and help you maintain that perfect shade of red.

Overall, maintaining red hair takes a little extra effort, but with the right products and techniques, it's certainly doable.
