Pink hair is back, and better than ever. From the catwalks to celebs on instagram, pink hair is trending and it's more wearable than you think. Rather than one stand-out hue, there are tonnes of different ways you can dye your hair pink - to suit both your skin tone and natural hair colour.
From the eye-catching models at Monse and Jonathan Cohen, to TikTok sensation Abby Roberts' bubblegum pink hair at the BRTIS, pink hair has been brought to the fore. Rose gold might have been the order of the day in the hair world for the last couple of years, but now? It's the cool candy and bright pink shades that are ruling the day. Considering the switch but not sure what to ask for in-salon? Watch colour legend Josh Wood's ultimate pink how-to video below:
Need some pink hair inspiration? Loads of A-listers including the likes of JLo, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, and now Abbey Roberts has made this colour switch during the past year. Keep on scrolling, get ready to screenshot and send these pics to your hairdresser… stat.

Abby Roberts debuted this wet-look gothic pink at BRITs 2022. International Creative Director of Color Wow, Dom Seeley, tells us that saturating the hair with Color Wow's Dream Coat, £26, drying and then texturising with Color Wow's Style on Steroids, £23, helps to create the beachy, glossy waves.
Celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton took to Instagram to debut JLo's flamingo pink waves. Ok, - JLo will look good with any hair colour - but pink looks particularly chic. JLo wears the shade well, especially with the peachy-pink flush across her cheeks and that fleshy, nude lip.
Cruz Beckham's bleached buzzcut might not have you reaching for the shears quite yet, but the ultra-cool shade of bright bubblegum pink can translate to any cut. The man behind the colour is our favourite Josh Wood, simply lock in and maintain the bold colour with the Josh Wood Ultimate Colour Care Set, £45.
Chrissy Teigen is underwent a pink hair transformation earlier in the year and we were totally here for it. A stark contrast to her signature brown, honeyed highlighted strands, Chrissy shared her new look over on Instagram. Tagging hairstylists Irinel de León and Tracey Cunningham, her rosy pink highlights are the result of a gradual colour change. Initially, Chrissy's hair was lightened to a cool blonde, before a gloss was applied to warm it up. Finally, the pink was blended through to create the soft, candy colour.
Professional tennis player, Naomi Osaka branched out from her usual warm brunette low lights, mixing things up and brave a bold, fuchsia pink instead.
From blonde to brunette and now fuchsia pink, Shakira proves that she can pull off just about every hair colour. Making a case for bold is better, take note for when the salons re-open if you're ready to brave a colour switch-up.
Madonna enlisted the help of John Frieda Salons Creative Colour Director, Nicola Clarke to make the change. ‘I mixed and tested pinks of my own but ended up using a pre-mixed a Crazy Color hair dye in Candy Floss,’ says Nicola, ‘it was soft, pretty and the perfect pink.’ In order to prevent damage, Nicola added the Virtue Labs Colour Kick to the hair dye - 'it maintain the quality of the hair and the colour.'
Usually sporting a warm blonde lob, Fearne Cotton recently decided to mix things up and go for an all-over bright, candy pink.
Modern Family's Ariel Winter has also followed suit - recently taking to Instagram to showcase her new candyfloss pink locks.
Kaia Gerber has given herself a pink hair make-over and we're obsessed. If you've been scrolling Instagram lately you will most likely have noticed this pretty eye-catching hair colour trend creeping its way into the beauty ether. Again. It's time to welcome back pink hair with wild abandon.
Lady Gaga has been doing it (those pastel pink mermaid waves she updated her Instagram grid with are exactly what we're talking about!) Dua Lipa has been doing it (she even posted fresh pictures of her this week taking her pastel shade of pink to an eye-catching neon hue), Elle Fanning, Lottie Moss and even Amanda Holden let her daughter play around with pink shades as she helped her apply a wash-out look.
Dua Lipa enlisted help from boyfriend Anwar Hadid to kick off her pink revamp, and Kaia Gerber knew she needed a helping hand too, in the form of hair pro Guido Paulo on video call.
How Kaia Gerber Dyed Her Hair Pink:
Kaia Gerber decided to let her followers into the whole pink hair dye process and has posted her video call with renowned hair stylist Guido Paulo on her IGTV. Watch it all below:
Guido Paulo made sure that Kaia's hair was damp before she went in with the dye. Kaia made the point that she had always wanted to dye her hair pink but it was impossible because her hair was so dark. Now she's blonde (thanks to Guido Paulo's hair wizardry) she's free to experiment as much as she likes. Guido says that he originally wanted to go for an 'antiquey pink', a pale pink, with Kaia's hair, but as she's likely to be swimming and in the sun, he's encouraging her to go darker so that the shade lasts longer. It's unclear what product Kaia is using but she applies it with her fingers (she's wearing gloves) to the blonde sections of her hair and leaves it on for 10 minutes. Guido then tells Kaia to rinse it off, interestingly without shampooing her hair, as he mentions the dye acts like a conditioner.

Tips For Dyeing Your Hair Pink
A-list colourist, Brit King from Larry King London Salon has a couple of words of warning to consider before you try the look. 'With these fun colours, they do like to fade out fast. So keep this in mind when picking a fun colour. Are you going to like the shade it fades out to?' If you're as much a fan of a washed out pastel pink as you are a bright and vibrant on, you're good to go! Want to slow down the fade? 'Shampooing less frequently will help you keep your colour for longer' says Brit. Duly noted.
Mad Men heroine and Spinning Out star, January Jones debuted her pink hue on Instagram and revealed she relied only on her DIY skills and achieved the look herself. Her caption read 'just gave myself some pink highlights, rather impressed with myself tbh'. Bravo January!
Admittedly a pink hair colour revamp is far easier to achieve on blonde hair. If you are brunette and wanting to try it out, you're likely going to have to embrace a bit of bleach first. Or you could make like Emily Ratajkowski and don a candy pink wig.
