Taking the prize for today’s most random piece of celebrity news is the revelation that Keira Knightley has in fact been wearing a wig for the past five years. No, we’re not talking about donning one for a film role but wearing one in day to day life.
Speaking to InStyle, the actress revealed that she has been forced to wear a wig because of the damage caused to her hair by various film roles. Knightley has sported a number of different hairstyles over the years from a bleached crop in Domino to an extravagant 18th century up-do for The Duchess.
‘I have dyed my hair virtually every colour imaginable for different films. It got so bad that my hair literally began to fall out of my head!’ Knightley said.
‘So for the past five years I’ve used wigs, which is the greatest thing that’s ever happened to my hair.’
It seems that even if you have access to the world’s top hairdressers and products, your hair cannot be saved.
For Knightley, who gave birth to her first daughter in May, motherhood has intensified her hair nightmares.
‘I have naturally crazy, curly hair, and since I’ve had the baby it’s become 10 times thicker. So now I’ve been finding quite a lot of dreadlocks,’ Knightley shared.
And there is only one product that helps her matted locks. ‘The Tangle Teezer is the only thing that works for detangling my dreadlocks. It gets rid of the kinks without snagging my hair out,’ she recommended.
