The hair trend enjoyed a resurgence in 2010, when Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis lead the cast of Black Swan, director Darren Aronofsky's dark take on the life of an ambitious soloist. It was a blockbuster hit that sent the very same aforementioned millennials running to their nearest barre class to get a nostalgic slice of the action.
This year's latest ballet themed revival may have something to do with the recent popularisation of slicked-back, centre-parted buns on social media. TikTokers had a field day with the 'clean girl' beauty trend, which put glowing skin, barely there eye make-up and similarly gleaming buns on a pedestal.
