One of the biggest winners at 2021's BAFTAs? The ponytail. That's right – celebrities eschewed more complex hairstyles in favour of a classic pony, only they proved that it's anything but basic.
Priyanka Chopra was one of the first to arrive at the Royal Albert Hall for the ceremony, wearing a red embroidered jacket and silk trousers bu Spanish brand Pertegaz. But it was her hair that almost stole the show, fashioned into one of the most impressive bubble ponytails we've seen.
Then, Ashley Madekwe posted a photo of her glorious Louis Vuitton gown on Instagram and, lo and behold, she also opted for a ponytail. Madekwe's was plaited, however, proving the versatility of this seemingly simple style.
Speaking of versatility,Rose Byrneshowed yet another pony style – hers was low and sleek, worn with a dramatic side parting.
Back in January, the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Ariana Grande were showing off high-set ponytails, which were also a major fixture on the catwalks. The pony's prevalence at the BAFTAs proves that they're still as popular as ever – and a great solution for those of us still waiting to get back to hair salons.
How to create the perfect bubble ponytail
Step 1:
Gather your hair into a mid or high ponytail and secure with a hair tie.
Step 2:
A couple of inches down your ponytail (depending how long your hair is) add another hair tie. Gently pull this section to give some volume and to make the round, bubble shape. Repeat this down your ponytail.
Step 3:
Add hair pins to any bubbles with stray hairs and ensure that each section is roughly the same size and shape. Use hairspray to keep your bubble ponytail in place.
