I Tested Marks & Spencer’s New £10 Fragrances And They Instantly Reminded Me Of These Designer Favourites

M&S fragrances, much like Zara fragrances, have the incredible ability to combine intense aromas with affordable price-points. With an existing collection of could-be designer fragrances rivalling cult-favourite scents like Sol de Janeiro's Brazilian Crush Cheirosa 62 and YSL's Black Opium, M&S is now launching two new fragrances for winter - priced at just £10. With delicious notes perfect for the season, these scents are set to be crowd-pleasers thanks to their similarities to two of the internet's favourite designer scents.

Straight off the bat, I was impressed by the packaging; both bottles felt heavy, and more expensive than their price-tag would suggest. Starting with the Frosted Vanilla, £10, as soon as I spritzed it, a sweet, but not overly sweet scent developed, and as it blended into my skin, hints of pear and jasmine start to emerge, adding a subtle depth. Over time, the aroma softened into a warm scent that feels like being wrapped in a blanket, and as it grew I found that it was incredibly reminiscent of Burberry's Goddess, £50 - but significantly more affordable.

Warm Fig, £10 on the other hand offers a richer, more festive feel. It starts with a fruity burst, quickly evolving into floral with cassis adding a fresh touch that complements the fig perfectly. This made the fragrance smell premium, and sprayed side by side with its designer counterpart, Phlur Father Figure, £99, the difference was subtle. For £10, I was very pleased by the projection of both perfumes and its ability to fill the room.

My only qualm with these fragrances is that - naturally - they're not as long-lasting as their designer counterparts, but spraying them on your clothes, as well as your skin can make a world of difference. These new additions capture the essence of the holiday season are sure to elevate your scentdrobe.
