These Low-Key Luxury Looks From Mint Velvet Are My Entire Summer Personality

Mint Velvet's line-up of low-fuss, high-impact pieces is all I want to wear right now.

As a Fashion Editor I've seen my fair share of maximalist style statements, viral items and, let's be honest, fads (is the mob wife aesthetic still a thing?), so I'm more than happy to say that for summer my focus is all about keeping it relaxed. Now that's not to say I'm only interested in wearing a t-shirt and jeans, but I'll certainly be embracing a more pared back approach to dressing with simple, effective sunshine staples done very, very well.

I find that keeping it classic makes me look more elegant overall. There's a certain confidence to minimalist colours and forever fits. But, of course, I still want to keep it fresh (it's a new season after all!). There's a big difference between something that's been done before and something simply being timeless it may be a cool cut, a clever detail or a luxe fabric that elevates it to the next level. And it's those elegant, modern classics that I've been hunting high and low for - and I've finally found them at Mint Velvet.

Mint Velvet has just launched its summer collection and it's full of laidback, luxury-looking pieces that deliver relaxed glamour at any hour. Utilising what many of us would call summer wardrobe staples such as sun dresses, breezy linen tailoring, and even denim, it has given them a once over and turned them into a fresh, failsafe fashion formula that you'll want to wear all season long. When you think of summer, your mind transports to vivid brights that scream holidays and days in the sun.

But if you need sunglasses just to stare at half the pieces in your wardrobe, it's not always a good thing. However, the colours leading the way for this season are surprisingly low-key, calming, and versatile - so much so, they even work perfectly together. Buttermilk, with its creamy yet understated yellow tone, is sunshine in sartorial form. It pairs effortlessly with sky blue and, of course, white - summer 2024's colour triptych for endless styling options. Elsewhere, even the most basic of styles still feel like they're bringing something new to the table without having to try very hard. The leopard printed jeans, for example, are effortlessly chic and a great alternative to your usual blue or ecru, in a cargo fit that's just cool. They just give down day dressing that extra oomph it needs without needing anything more than a t-shirt and trainers.

And there are plenty more pieces that deliver that same low-key luxury vibe – and I’ve curated my favourites below. These easy yet polished looks are everything you need to kickstart the transition into warm-weather styling, from work to weekend, AM to PM, home and away. Discover them now.

Brown Oversized Pocket Shirt

Black is elegant, but have you met brown? Once considered a boring shade, all signs are pointing to chocolate brown being the most lavish-looking colour trend for the season. It's softer, richer and therefore more luxurious to look at - and when translated into relaxed, oversized staples such as this shirt, it delivers maximum glamour with minimal effort. Wear loose over matching satiny trousers, or open over a white vest and denim.
