We’ve heard our fair share of wedding horror stories, from sons punching their mothers to brides on ketamine and the uninvited guest who smashed wine bottles on the floor.
This week a wedding story featuring a series of unfortunate events has gone viral on Twitter after newlywed Summer Brennan tweeted; ‘What a week. Still trying to get over having my mother-in-law interrupt our vows uninvited and then, while doing so, calling me by my husband's ex's name. Are there any proverbs about bad weddings=good marriages?’
The tweet by the Brookyn-based author and journalist prompted replies by married men and women who had similarly frightful wedding stories, here are some of our favourites.
‘I married my best friend in a hasty ceremony. The officiant told us we didn’t have a good vibe together. I had two kids and 13 years with the dude I apparently “didn’t seem serious about” and we’re not together now but we’re family until the world ends.’ - @KillerMartinis
