Fancy yourself as a mixologist or want to impress your guests this Christmas by shaking up some delicious cocktails? No problem. We have found the most exquisite rum, and it is the perfect base for creating tantalizing tipples. So why not create an occasion? Get the girls over, throw on your favourite cocktail dress, and grab a shaker. Introducing Ron Santiago de Cuba Rum.
Ron Santiago de Cuba Rum was born in the city of Santiago de Cuba in the Oriente region, a place known as the Cradle of Light Rum since 1862. Rum is considered the soul of Cuba, but what makes this particular rum so unique can be broken down into three elements: the raw materials, the method of aging and blending, and the expertise of the Maestros del Ron Cubano. With a selection of blends to choose from, you will be spoiled for choice. You are sure to find the perfect bottle to add to your Christmas drinks menu or gift if you are feeling generous.
Rum making is an art form, and that is why it is so apt that Ron Santiago de Cuba has partnered with Nephthys Illustrated to create limited edition rum-inspired artwork.
Nephthys Illustrated is the studio of London-based artist and designer Nephthys Foster. Her works celebrate the little joys in life, those small moments in which we all find happiness. Her prints are strikingly bold and colourful. The collaboration between Ron Santiago de Cuba and Nephthys’ bright, vibrant style effortlessly brings together the joyfulness of rum and cocktail culture with the spirit of Cuba.
As part of the collab, a set of limited-edition prints has been commissioned. Artworks include Un Daiquiri Por Favor (A Daiquiri, please), Ring for Rum, and Salud! Prints can be purchased alongside a bottle of Ron Santiago de Cuba Extra Añejo 11 Years Old (while stocks last). The individual limited-edition A3 prints are available for £32.99 each and are a fun, modern way to elevate any home aesthetic. There’s also a print and bottle bundle available for £43.99 too.
While you decide on which to choose, may we suggest a cocktail? Here are two that are perfect for getting the party started, Cuban style.
Cuban Naranja Negroni
Ingredients: 25ml Ron Santiago de Cuba Extra Añejo 11 Years Old, 15ml Campari, 20ml Sweet Red Vermouth, 10ml Triple Sec (Orange Liqueur).
Add all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker or mixing glass. Add cubed ice and stir down to chill; strain into your favourite glass over fresh cubed ice. Garnish with a slice of blood orange and a sprig of rosemary. Now sit back and sip in style.
Cuban Naranja Negroni is 1.8-2 units (depending on exact Orange liqueur used, at approximately 20-40% ABV).
Pinata Daiquiri
Ingredients: 35ml Ron Santiago de Cuba Extra Añejo 11 Years Old, 20ml pineapple juice, 20ml cream of coconut, 20ml fresh lime juice, a pinch of powdered cinnamon.
Begin by making a cinnamon sugar rim for your chosen serving glass. Combine equal parts powdered cinnamon and fine caster sugar, roll the glass rim in a drop of rum, press into the mixture, and chill. For the cocktail, add all the ingredients into a shaker or mixing glass. Add cubed ice, shake, and double strain into chilled glassware. Garnish with caramelized pineapple on a skewer and dust with grated nutmeg. Enjoy!
