The idea of growing up with a rock god for a dad and a TV star for a mum would be kinda cool. But Zoe Kravitz has revealed that being born into the spotlight was tough.

The 26-year-old starlet has spoken out about her childhood, revealing that she suffering with eating disorders and feelings of self-loathing stemming from the pressures of living life in the limelight.

Zoe spoke out about her issues in Complex magazine and said: 'I had a really hard time when I was 16, 17, 18. I started with the eating disorder in high school… Just [a hard time] loving myself.'

'I think it was part of being a woman, and being surrounded by [fame].'

Zoe - whose father is Lenny Kravitz and whose mother is sitcom star Lisa Bonet - also revealed that her weight plummeted to just 90lbs while she was starring in the film The Road Within, playing an anoxeric.

She said: 'My parents got really scared for me to go back down that road.'

'It was f**ked up, man. You could see my rib cage. I was just trying to lose more weight for the film but I couldn't see: You're there. Stop. It was scary.'

On New Years Eve in 2013 Zoe decided it was time for a change after months of health problems. Her period was not regular and she was having issues with her thyroid.

After conquering her demons Zoe has a much more positive outlook. 'I feel like something has left my body, like some part of me is gone now, something that was making me so insecure. And it feels amazing.'

She also conceedes that having her famous last name has helped her achieve her dreams.

'I can make all the art I want and get paid to do it - it's f**king crazy. I'm so thankful for it.'
