Melania Trump sparked hundreds of memes last week when she presented former First Lady Michelle Obama with a large Tiffany's box before her husband's inauguration. Seriously, just what was hiding inside that turquoise packaging?

Now, the First Lady and her husband are set to be on the receiving end of another potentially awkward gift - from British Prime Minister Theresa May.

May will be the first foreign leader to meet with new President Donald Trump, and as tradition and politeness dictates, she is bringing along some presents as a gesture of goodwill and friendship. A bit like when you meet your potential in-laws, but with much higher stakes and on a global scale.

But what has our Prime Minister chosen as the perfect gift for the recently installed POTUS? An 'Idiot's Guide to a Red, White and Blue Brexit'? Some higher quality fake tan than the stuff he's currently using? Nope.

It turns out that May will present the President with a quaich, a traditional Scottish cup that symbolises friendship. It's a nod to Trump's Scottish heritage (his mother Mary Anne was born on the Isle of Lewis and, erm, he owns a contentious golf course in Aberdeenshire), and according to Downing Street officials, will serve as 'a timeless reminder of the enduring Scottish values of friendship and hospitality.'

For Melania, the Prime Minister will be bringing... a hamper of British goods like Bakewell tarts, marmalade, damson jam and that famous British export, apple juice (made with apples from the Prime Minister's country retreat, Chequers).

In December, Downing Street revealed that Trump had neglected to send May a Christmas gift, despite the Prime Minister sending him a copy of a speech given by Winston Churchill at the White House.
