If you’ve ever stopped to wonder why there aren’t more events dedicated to celebrating the most majesty of dogs, the pug, then we have just the thing: Pugfest, a festival that promises to celebrate all things pug, is coming to a handful of UK locations this summer.
Billed as ‘the UK’s only official pug festival,’ the event will pop up in Birmingham (14th May), Margam Castle (18th June), Manchester (16th July) and Cambridge (20th August). If your city doesn’t yet feature on the line-up, worry not – the official website promises that further locations are to be announced. Pugfest London, anyone?
Each event will have a different theme, with pug owners encouraged to dress up their canine pals in outfits to match. The Manchester event is inspired by film and TV, with a red carpet walkway on arrival and a dedicated pug paparazzi. The Welsh leg of the event, meanwhile, has a medieval theme, with a host of ye olde costumes and activities.
Agility courses, a pug show and plenty of other treats will keep the canines occupied, and there’ll be food, drink and even a bouncy castle for their human companions.
You don’t have to be a pug owner to attend, with the event organisers promising that there will be ‘plenty of pugs to play with for visitors without [dogs].’ After a day in the company of these ridiculously cute four-legged friends, though, we guarantee that you’ll leave wanting one of your very own…
Fancy attending the festival for free? Pugfest is looking for volunteers, too – you just need to be over the age of 18 and possess a valid, up-to-date CRB check. You’ll have to hurry, though, as interest is (predictably) pretty high…
