It seems that Jeremy Corbyn hasn't just captured the youth vote and emerged as an unlikely fashion icon: he's also managed to win over parents-to-be, who are keen to name their newborns in homage to the Labour leader.
A study of 1,305 parents conducted by childcare website ChannelMum.com found that over 50 percent of those surveyed would consider naming their child Corbyn, while a further 15 percent would opt for Jeremy.
'Corbyn is the stand-out naming trend this year, and we expect to see lots of babies over the election period named after the Labour leader,' said Siobhan Freegard, ChannelMum founder, who also had some advice for parents keen to jump on the left-wing bandwagon: 'Remember a week is a long time in politics and your child will have to have that name for a lifetime, so make sure you are sure before naming them after any politician.'
The Conservative leader Theresa May came off less favourably in the poll. 38 percent of parents saying they'd consider naming their child May, but only four percent would opt for Theresa. Cameron, meanwhile, was popular with one third of the parents surveyed.
23 percent of parents reported that they'd noticed an increase in politically inspired names. Baby Corbyn, anyone?
