Call it the Adele effect, but ever since the singer dropped the sob-fest that is the 'Hello' video late last year, part of us has been hankering after a good old Noughties flip phone. While the latest iterations of our smartphones boast ever-sharper cameras, sleek touch screens and minimal design, nothing can ever top the satisfaction of signing off from an angry phone call with a triumphant snap of the lid.
For any tech-conscious Noughties girl, the Holy Grail of tech was the Motorola Razr. Heavily endorsed by none other than Paris Hilton, the flip phone to end all flip phones launched in 2003, and we're guessing that the hot pink version was top of your Christmas list in that very year.
Now, history looks set to repeat itself, because the Razr is coming back - and it's been revamped for the smartphone generation, with an Android operating system. Motorola broke the news of its return with a teaser trailer which - very appropriately - looks like the opening scenes of an awkward Noughties teen film, albeit one where the protagonists can't stop taking selfies. Set in the corridor of an American high school, and featuring a High School Musical-worthy spread of teen cliques, it ends with the retro sign-off 'TTYL,' before promising more news on 9th June this year. As Paris herself would say, 'That's hot!'
