EL James was reported to have had a very specific vision of how she wanted Fifty Shades of Grey to look on screen. Well she should be happy with the script for the sequel - because her husband is writing the script.
Niall Leonard, a screenwriter who has previously worked on Wire in the Blood, Monarch of the Glen and The Bill, will take charge of re-writing part two of his wife’s bestselling erotic franchise for the big screen.
“Niall is an outstanding writer in his own right, with multiple established credits,” wrote producer Michael De Luca, in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “We are lucky to have him join Team Fifty.”
The announcement comes after rumours that James would adapt the saucy dialogue herself, and following the news that original screenwriter Kelly Marcel had left the project. Leonard worked on the script for the first movie, released in February, but missed out on a mention.
Despite their latest recruitment, “Team Fifty” still has vacancies. The sequel is still lacking a director – Taylor-Johnson isn't set to return after allegedly finding James a controlling presence on set. The stars of part one, Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, also remain unconfirmed for the second instalment.
We know more than a few takers for Grey’s love interest if casting doesn’t work out…
