If you’ve been living under a rock for the past week, you may not have noticed that the weather is (sort of) getting colder, Halloween has passed and there’s a suspicious amount of red green and gold appearing in shop windows. Prepare yourselves, because the Christmas season is upon us and we can’t quite contain our excitement (we’re trying, honestly, as we do know that November has only just begun...).
The thing is, our fave Christmas adverts have started to appear and we find that we can't help starting to say things like ‘tis the season (or is that just us?). But instead of combing through the internet and wasting your precious time when frankly, you should be thinking about your xmas shopping - fear not, we’ll be helping you out soon with that- we’ve put together all the Christmas cheer you need right now with a round up of this year’s almighty Christmas ads.
We think that John Lewis is really to blame for all these festive feelings, and their hotly anticipated advert was awaited by millions - especially none other than a man named John Lewis from the USA. He hasn’t given up his twitter handle, resulting in some hilarious tweets yet again.
But we digress - grab a tissue and a cuppa, you’re about to get a whole lotta Christmas thrown at you.
Make Sure That You #GiveCoachOrElse This Year
One of the more feisty Christmas adverts from this season comes from Coach, who tell a tale of Father Christmas being the victim of a break in. The culprit is quite simply desperate for a Coach bag. We understand how she feels...
Enter Smythson's Wonderland With Quentin Jones
Artist Quentin Jones stars in Smythson's Christmas advert this season, offering an alternative arty alternative to the usual Christmas fare. It's an amazing contrast of classic and edgy, with Jones' designs and Smythson products dancing around in a spectacular visual treat.
Sainsbury's Are Wishing Us All A Moggy Christmas
Paddington lovers, this is one for you- Sainsbury's are going for a good old fashioned Christmas story, with a childhood characterful cat, Mog. We're loving it, as it makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Now all we need is a white Christmas!
John Lewis' Man on The Moon
The ‘Man on The Moon’ was created in association with Age UK, making us think of those that don’t have a big family around them this Christmas. It features possibly the sweetest girl ever, but we can’t help but want a prequel about how the Moon Man actually arrived on the Moon. Can we make a request for a feature film to be released please?
Marks and Spencer's The Art of Christmas
M&S have put the P in party season with their boppin’ ad. It’s making the Grazia office want to go shopping (as if we need an excuse) and to attack our homes with excessive quantities of tinsel. We really like Christmas.
Burberry's* Billy Elliot*
Trust Burberry to make Christmas cool with a homage to the cult classic Billy Elliot. It features a stellar cast with of course, Romeo Beckham as Billy, but ever so slightly more stylish in his classic trench. Star of the show is Judi Dench of course, with serious rep points as a member of the original cast, and for working that gold trench coat.
Harrods' Once Upon A Christmas
Harrods Once Upon a Christmas follows the stories of two mice in a Nutcracker-esque animation. It makes us want to go to a Christmas ballet (anyone want to take us? Please?) Head on down to Knightsbridge to see their Christmas windows - it’s part of the fun of London at this time of year.
Harvey Nichols Avoid #Gift Face
Harvey Nicks have gone for the comedy entry, with the tagline ‘avoid gift face’, striking fear in everyone’s mind about either giving or receiving rubbish gifts each year (there’s always one - the knitwear from Granny struck a chord with us). Apparently we’re not alone, with 72% of us pulling a ‘gift face’ when we receive something we don’t like. We love not having to fight back tears with one ad this season.
Mulberry's #Mulberrymiracle
It’s a cracker of an ad (sorry) with a play on the nativity story. Once again, Mulberry makes everyone hope for the ultimate Christmas present, one of their bags. Let’s all pray for a #mulberrymiracle this year?
**Topshop Shows Us The New Supers
****Topshop have launched their Christmas campaign and it's all about the models, baby. Bella Hadidfronts a list of models we should watch out for, as Topshop have been pretty big influences in the rocketing careers of her sister, Gigi, and of course Cara Delevingne, who was the star of their last xmas campaign. Watch these ladies strut their stuff in some seriously covetable Christmas party dresses and more. Looks like they've got the season all wrapped up! (Sorry).
