Warning, things get a little sweary…

The charity FCKH8 who make awesome T-shirts in a bid to provoke social change with slogans like “Some Chicks Marry Chicks, Get Over It” and “Racism Is Not Over But I’m Over Racism” have released a video. And it's a little shocking.

The video features five little girls dressed up as princesses, complete with tiaras and make up to match. They begin by singing the word ‘pretty’ in cutesy voices before they drop the f bomb.

“Here are some words more fked up than the word fk” they shout, “what’s more offensive? A little girl saying the word fk or the fking unequal and sexist way society treats girls and women”

At first my instant reaction was shock. Why are these young girls swearing and talking about rape? Such innocent children shouldn’t be subjected to these topics that are difficult enough for adults to take on.

But then, as you see the girls count aloud asking which one of them will be the become the 1 in 5 American women who are raped or sexually assaulted, the message hits home. Why are we so appalled by little girls swearing when there are so many atrocities awaiting them?

From pay inequality to rape and violence, these girls school us about the ridiculousness that is sexism - in just 2 minutes and 35 seconds.

The adults, who make an appearance at the end of the video, tell us instead of demanding these girls clean their mouths with soap, we should be demanding that society cleans up it's act and address the issues raised.

Is the video, which is promoting their new line of T-shirts "Girls just want to have FUN-damental rights" an unnecessary shock tactic? Or is it a successful way of addressing shocking issues?
