There's no better way to start the New Year than discovering evidence of a random celebrity relationship from years gone by. On this occasion, it's Emily in Paris star Lucien Laviscount and former Atomic Kitten Kerry Katona, who dated back in 2011 after meeting on Celebrity Big Brother. Yes, that really did happen.
Lucien, who plays heartthrob Alfie in Emily in Paris, went on the reality show when he was 19 and still starring in Waterloo Road. He and Kerry hit it off as soon as they met, despite a 12-year age gap, and were often shown kissing and cuddling in the Big Brother house.
When fans recently discovered evidence of this relationship on Twitter, it all kicked off and a mass investigation was underway. One fan wrote: 'How Lucien Laviscount has u-turned his career from Celebrity Big Brother & dating Kerry Katona, to being in the running for Bond is wild. WILD.' While popular social media account loveofhuns said, 'I wonder if Lily Collins aka Emily from Emily in Paris has watched the 2011 series of celebrity big brother where Lucien and Kerry Katona first discovered their love for each other'.
If that's not enough to get your head around, the former couple even did a cover shoot for OK! magazine back in 2011, with the headline: 'We hope we'll be together forever'. In the interview, Kerry said 'there was a lot of sexual tensions' between the pair on the show, and 'if the cameras hadn't been there, God knows what would have happened'. Lucien said the age gap didn't bother him as he likes 'women who know where they're at'.
The relationship, somewhat unsurprisingly, fizzled out shortly after their cover story hit the shelves. Kerry later said, 'I love him but I'm not going to marry him'. And in a comment that does nothing to sooth the concerns of those questioning their age gap, she said 'I would never want to take his childhood away from him'.
In the decade since, it's fair to say the exes have gone in very different directions. Kerry, now 42, often appears on Loose Women and is a host on the BBC podcast Wheel of Misfortune. She has been engaged to 33-year-old personal trainer Ryan Mahoney since 2020. Meanwhile, Lucien is at the peak of his career, he's the star of a hit Netflix show, he's been photographed for GQ, and he's even rumoured to be the next James Bond. Perhaps Kerry Katona is the next Bond girl we never knew we needed...
