Zac Efron is starring in a new film all about one man's struggle to achieve his dreams. What are those struggles? Considering the opening segment of the trailer for We Are Your Friends is a lot like the opening 'choose life' monologue from *Trainspotting, *you'd think Zac plays a drug addict finding solace in the fact his lifestyle is an alternative to the beige norm. But no. He's a regular (incredibly handsome) dude who wants to play music off of a laptop to crowds of people (maybe Zac got inspo for this role while hanging out on yachts in Ibiza with Michelle Rodriguez last summer, but in our heart of hearts, Ibiza is surely above this knuckle-draggery) The dreams? To become the superstar DJ he's always dreamed of being and to get the girl – none other than Emily Ratajkowski from Blurred Lines, who's basically undone the great work she did on Gone Girl (ok, she did exactly what the role required) with this stint as a DJ groupie.
We'd love to say this film – directed by none other than Max from Catfish: The TV Show – depicting the hard times of a frat boy who likes to wear vests in the club and put on billions of year old Justice songs at houseparties is a spoof or a pisstake but it's actually not. Enjoy.
