When it was first announced that Sex and the City was making its long-awaited return, it was initially pitched as a limited one-off series. The And Just Like That reboot would feature the iconic female friendship group (minus Samantha) navigating their fifties, and with some major plot twists - death, affairs, divisive new characters - it truly has delivered drama.
So, due to the interest in the revival (for good or bad reasons), we couldn't help but wonder if another series is on the cards - or will the season finale really be the last we see of these beloved characters?
We did some digging and we have gathered everything you need to know about the future of And Just Like That…
Has Season 2 of And Just Like That been confirmed?
There has been no confirmation yet, but that could all change. In a number of interviews show runners have hinted at a future for the show.
In an interview with Emmy Magazine, show creator Michael Patrick King was questioned about the possibility of a second season, and said: 'I don't know. As we were working, it always felt like the beginning. It didn't feel like a beginning, middle and an end. So I think it's possible to keep going — if we have enough good stories.' If this is only the beginning, we have lot’s more to look forward to so, fingers crossed!
HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys also commented on the possibility of a second season, explaining to Vulturethat it depends on the availability of the leading ladies. He revealed, 'To tell you the truth, it would be a conversation, because I have no idea. They kind of came together to do this. They were all really busy and doing other things. So it is certainly a conversation we'll have,' he said. 'But we haven't decided anything or done anything. I'm going to leave it up to these guys to figure out what they want to do, but I'm very happy with what they've done,' he added.
Another source told Page Six, 'They may feel that they want to prove a point that they can make a second season stronger and that it was valid to bring it back for fans.'
However, Us Weekly previously reported that an insider working on the show revealed that discussions about the future of the reboot have been paused, due to serious allegations of sexual assault against actor Chris Noth. Although his character Mr Big died during the first episode of And Just Like That, perhaps his association with the show has had a lasting effect.
Since then, there has been no developments, but bookmark this page - as we'll be sure to keep you updated on future announcements.
