The internet is in mourning after the viral social media account that tracked Lorraine Kelly’s attendance on her ITV show announced it was closing after the host’s comments that it was ‘really hurtful’.

Where Is Lorraine? gained notoriety on X – formerly known as Twitter – last year after posting whether or not the 65-year-old presenter had hosted the show, which is named after her, each day.

At the end of 2024, the account – which boasts 26,500 followers – found that Lorraine had hosted just 59.7% of the shows, with stand-in hosts Christine Lampard and Ranvir Singh hosting 20.2% and 19% respectively.

As of 7 March 2025, Lorraine had hosted 68.1% of the year’s episodes.

The account announced that it would be stopping its posts in an announcement on Sunday evening.

The account said, ‘I have always said that if Lorraine or her team reached out and asked me to stop this account then I would.

‘While I have not had contact with Lorraine or anybody affiliated with her, her comments in this weekend’s The Guardian make it clear that the joke has run its course and it is time for it to end.

‘I have said time and time again that this was only ever meant to be fun and I’m very grateful to everybody who has enjoyed it with me. There was never any intention of hurting Lorraine’s feelings and I am sorry if I have done so.’

They signed off the message, ‘Goodbye my Lorrainvirstines.’ So, what has Lorraine said about the account for it to cease posting?

Back in February 2024, Lorraine first addressed the account during an interview on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hourwith Anita Rani.

Antia said, ‘There is a satire account set up on X tracking your appearances on the show.’

Lorraine replied, ‘It’s hilarious. The amount of space I occupy in people’s heads is quite bizarre.

‘It’s fine, I don’t mind, I don’t care. I probably would have cared before, but I really don’t now. It’s absolutely fine.’

Speaking more about the reason behind her time away, Lorraine continued, ‘You should never comment on things like that if you don’t know what’s going on in people’s lives.

‘I am having to take quite a few Fridays off because my mum’s really not well, so I can go home now and see her more and help her a bit more than I’ve been able to.’

But fast forward a year and it seems Lorraine has changed her mind about about the account being funny.

When asked about the account in March 2025, Lorraine told The Guardian, ‘It’s really hurtful actually. It really is. I’ve not spoken about it before. I’m a grafter and I work really hard and I’ve had to take Fridays off for the past year. I just thought it was weird to care so much.’

Repeating that she initially took time off because her mum was ill, she then continued to defend herself by saying, ‘It sort of brings you into line with everyone else because if you look at This Morning, everybody else does four days.

‘And as I’m getting older, I want to do other things, more writing, all of that. Mate, I’ve been doing this for 40 years, working my arse off.’

When the interviewer points out that other ITV shows Good Morning Britain and This Morning are not named after their hosts, Lorraine responded, ‘I get that. I get that 100% because This Morning is just called This Morning and GMB is just GMB.

‘Maybe it just started off as a wee joke, but it’s the way that everyone piles on. It starts off as a wee tiny thing and it gets bigger and bigger. I find it really sad.’
