When you see that Vicky McClure is starring in a new show, you know it's going to be a winner. We love her as no-nonsense DI Kate Fleming in the BBC's smash-hit Line of Duty and now she's back in another must-see Sunday night crime drama, Trigger Point. Here's everything you need to know about the star and her new series.

What is Vicky McClure's new series Trigger Point about?

Vicky stars as bomb disposal officer Lana Washington in ITV's new six-part drama Trigger Point. When a terrorist campaign threatens London, she is pushed to her limits, and must help counter-terrorism figure out the bomb maker's identity before they cause more death and destruction.

The first, edge-of-your-seat episode takes us straight into the action as Lana and fellow bomb disposal expert Joel Nutkins (Adrian Lester) are called to deal with a suspected bomb factory in a housing estate. Both ex-military, the pair are close, having served together in Afghanistan. The tension never lets up as they uncover the true extent of the threat: by the end of the episode you'll be hooked (and you'll need a few minutes for your heart rate to come back down to normal).

To prepare for the role Vicky spoke to real-life bomb disposal experts, who were on set every day to advise on the technical aspects of the job during filming. If diffusing bombs wasn't enough, according to Vicky her character Lana is 'carrying trauma and her life is pretty messed up... she’s trying to keep people safe and she’s losing her head a little bit'.

The show's executive producer is none other than Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio, so you can expect plenty of twists, turns and tantalising cliffhangers. But it's no Line of Duty rip off - Jed Mercurio promises it's a 'very different show'.

When does Trigger Point start?

Trigger Point starts this Sunday 23 January at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub. Each episode will air weekly, so that's your Sunday night viewing for the next six weeks sorted. (Although we're pretty certain it won't be the most soothing sixty minutes).

What else has Vicky McClure been in?

Before starring in six seasons of Line of Duty as AC-12's Kate Fleming (a seventh series is still a possibility, but nothing has been confirmed), Vicky's most famous role was as skinhead Lol in Shane Meadow's film This Is England and the three subsequent mini series on Channel 4, for which she won a BAFTA in 2010. She also starred in the first season of Broadchurch, the BBC's hit maternity leave drama The Replacement, and Channel 4's critically-acclaimed female-led anthology series I Am...

Her next project after_Trigger Point_is another gritty ITV drama called Without Sin, in which she plays a grieving mother who confronts the killer of her 14-year-old daughter as part of a restorative justice program.

Who is Vicky McClure's fiancé Jonny Owens?

Vicky got engaged to producer and writer Jonny Owens in 2017 - and they have a production company together called Build Your Own Films, which is producing her upcoming drama Without Sin. The pair met in 2013 on the set of the British film Svengali, which Jonny wrote and Vicky starred in.

Where does Vicky McClure live?

Vicky and her fiancé Jonny live in Nottingham, where Vicky grew up. She learnt her craft at the Nottingham TV Workshop, the acting school which Samantha Morton, Joe Dempsie and Jack O'Connell also attended. Vicky's next show Without Sin is set and filmed in her home city; shooting started at locations around Nottingham at the beginning of this year.
