It looks like it’s true. There’s no turning back now. The Britney Spears film Britney Ever After is actually happening and there’s a trailer to prove it.
And while it looks like it’s going to make for intense viewing material, it probably not going to be anything like to the Crossroads remake we were all holding out for. Just me? Okay.
In the 30 second clip Britney (played actress Natasha Burnett) says very little. Nevertheless, we're given enough of a taste for what's to come in the full length film. Were teased with shots of Britney on stage, dancing at her wedding, making her way through crowds of paparazzi and of course, the 2007 meltdown: ‘I’m not gonna say I was fine, ‘cause I wasn’t’, Natasha says, as she lifs an electric razor to her head.
According to the synopsys on the Lifetime website, the film will cover the ‘tumultuous story of pop icon Britney Spears’ rise to fame, fall from grace and eventual triumphant resurrection, firmly securing her position as one of the world’s greatest entertainers’. Sounds like they intend to be pretty thorough.
The movie isn’t technically authorised by the pop princess herself, though. A rep previously told US Weekly that Britney ‘will not be contributing in any way, shape or form to the Lifetime biopic, nor does it have her blessing’.
The two-hour movie will be released on 18 February 2017, and I can't imagine they'll be many surprises, especially if Brit has kept her distance from the whole thing. After all, the rise of Britney Spears is a story we all feel we know quite well. But will there be any actual insight to the bits that happened off stage/behind the camera/outside of the headlines? I guess we'll find out.
