The US version of the hit series arrives on BBC iPlayer on 13 January and will be shown on both BBC Three and BBC One.

In response to the huge success of The Traitors on BBC One, the BBC has gained the rights to The Traitors US from All3 Media International produced by Studio Lambert for NBC Universal.

Director of iPlayer and Channels, Dan McGolphin says: 'Following the huge success of The Traitors, which has been streamed more than 28 million times on BBC iPlayer and was the talk of the nation over the festive period, we're delighted to give BBC viewers the chance to watch the brand new US series within hours of its release in America.'

Of course, we were all obsessed withClaudia Winkleman's wardrobe from the show. This series is hosted by the actor Alan Cumming and filmed at the same location as the UK series.

'..it's a new year treat for those seeking out more treachery – all is about to be revealed on BBC iPlayer, BBC Three and BBC One.'

In the US series, 20 contestants – a combination of famous and everyday Americans – play the murder mystery game and aim to deceive their opponents. The show is hosted by actor Alan Cumming at an ancient castle in Scotland as contestants work together to build up a prize fund of up to $250,000.

As is the case in the UK version, there are traitors hidden among the faithful contestants, whose goal is to eliminate the faithful and claim the prize for themselves – undetected.

The traitors must murder the faithful contenstants one at a time, while the faithful try to uncover the traitors and banish them from the game. If the faithful contestants make it to the end, they share the money. If a traitor makes it to the end, they win everything.

The Traitors US will be available on BBC Three across weeks as follows:
