It was only a matter of time before another showcase of Britain’s ripped, tanned and beautiful hit our screens. And while many of us are secretly yearning for the return of last year’s reality TV phenomenon, Love Island – let’s be real, I don’t think anyone could have predicted how dramatically it was going to take over our lives – ITV2 is offering something similar. Kind of.
Many are calling it the 'Winter Love Island' but to avoid confusion let me clarify that it is most definitely not...
Introducing Survival Of The Fittest, what seems to be ITV’s Love Island-esque follow up to that weird [Bromans](https://thedebrief.co.uk/things-to-do/tv-and-film/bromans-trailer-itv2-gladiator-show/or-show/) sho (Where guys competed in physical, clothing-less tasks but set in the Roman empire. So, like, Romans. But for bros) that aired towards the end of last year.
‘From the makers of Love Island, comes the ultimate battle of the sexes’, the voice over says in the show’s trailer. Then the girls strut and the boys flex a bit. ‘Under the African sky, sparks will fly’, the voice over continues.

The premise of it all transpiring to be a hook up show is set by ‘Steve’ in the back who instead of stepping up to the plate to compete is found to be snogging one of the female contestants. Don’t worry, everyone recruited for the show is single so it would seem this sort of behaviour is encouraged – ‘cause its prime-time TV, ain’t it.
What’s the point, you ask? Well beyond some easy week night telly watching disguised as an excuse to give the Netflix account a bit of a break, the contestants are in with a chance of winning a cash prize.
Who’s On Survival Of The Fittest?
Laura Whitmore will be hosting the fun in the sun. As for the participants, we have six boys and six girls, among who you’ll find Danny Dyer’s oldest daughter, Dani, and Georgia Toff Toffolo’s ex-boyfriend James Middleton.
Then there’s a guy called Warren Phillips who won The Face Of Gloucester competition (yep, a real thing) back in the day. Mariam Musa who went to the same school as Disclosure, Tia Latham who is a model, Jenny West of The West Twins (social media double act) Georgie Clarke who works as a Tax Credit consultant in real life and Business Development Manager Georgia Cole.
Other names to look out for are Tristan Jones who is a model too, PT David Lundy, Ryan Cleary who is a Jeweller and Callum Pardoe from South Wales.
When is Survival Of The Fittest On?
Sunday 11th February is the day, ladies and gents. Tune in to ITV2 at 9pm for the hot, sweaty and anticipatory raucous festivities.

Helen popped up way back in the first season to give Friends a weird cross over into the Mad About You world. She tries to order coffee from Phoebe. It's a bit awks.

Ah cousin Cassie Gellar. A relative who comes to stay with Monica but is oogled at a bit too much by Chandler so then goes to stay with Ross and has a weird moment over there too.

What a role, eh? Andrea played mother to Emily (Ross's wife who's name he did not say at the alter) and answers the phone to poor pregnant Phoebe who wasn't able to fly to London for the wedding.

The award for the most out of nowhere cameo probably goes to these two guys who sat on the gang's sofa in the coffee house. Robin's character thinks his wife is cheating on him and for such an impromptu skit, it's pretty funny.

Paul is dating Rachel after she breaks up with Ross who is dating Paul's daughter Elizabeth. It's one of the best awkward relationship squares that I can think of and that pep-talk moment in the mirror is A-grade brilliance.

If you thought the guy who plays opposite Joey in a film then here's why. There's an awkward joke about an Oscar that he hasn't won (in real life and on the show).
