It's a bittersweet day for fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty. After a nine-week run, the final episode of the show will air on Amazon Prime tonight.
The show, which is based off a trilogy of young adult romance novels by Jenny Han, has gained a cult following thanks to its depiction of Belly, who is caught in a love triangle between two brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah. According to Amazon, this season's first episode drew in 25 million global viewers, a 40% increase on the previous season, with Prime Video saying it is its most-watched TV season among women aged 18-34.

Will there be a season four of The Summer I Turned Pretty?
It's sad news for fans of the show, as Jenny Han has confirmed the show won't be returning for a fourth season. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in May, Han explained the show had run out of source materials. 'We needed more canvas for the story, so that's how we ended up with 11 episodes,' she told the outlet. 'But yeah, three books, three seasons. It feels right to me.'
She also addressed why there won't be a fourth season in an interview with the LA Times. 'Doing what I think is best for the story has always been my north star, and the story to me fit for these three seasons,' she said. 'I appreciate that [Prime Video execs] respected that. To be able to say when, to be able to call it, is rare when something is doing well and making people money. But I have to be true to myself and what I think is best for the story.'
However, the door isn't shut completely. Han also told the LA Times she would ' say never' to the idea of doing a prequel, sequel or spin-off series at some point in the future.
What happened in season three of The Summer I Turned Pretty?
Fans of the books were surprised when season three launched, as it's set nearly four years after the events of season two. It follows Belly, played by Lola Tung, who is spending another summer in Cousins with Jeremiah, played by Gavin Casalegno, after finishing her junior year of college.
