Sharon Tate’s sister Debra was so in awe of the way her sister was portrayed by Margot Robbiein Once Upon A Time In Hollywood that she cried.
It’s been reported by Vanity Fair that Debra was so supportive of Robbie’s part in the film that she lent her a used bottle of perfume and pieces of Sharon’s jewellery.
‘I wanted to do anything I could to help her feel as much like Sharon as she possibly could,’ she told the magazine.
Debra also revealed how she cried during a set visit, as Margot’s portrayal of her sister - who was killed by the Manson Family in 1969 - was so spot on.
‘She made me cry because she sounded just like Sharon,’ she said.
‘The tone in her voice was completely Sharon, and it just touched me so much that big tears [started falling]. The front of my shirt was wet. I actually got to see my sister again...nearly 50 years later.’
Debra added, ‘The thing that touched me the most - it wasn’t that Leo and Brad were such famous movie stars.
‘It was Margot, and who she was and her qualities, and the potential to place Sharon and really give it to an audience.
‘She was so sweet and so kind, intelligent, and lighter than the air in every way. And Margot did a beautiful job at portraying that.’
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is released in cinemas on August 15.
