Class is almost back in session at Moordale High! There are only nine days left until we are reunited with everyone’s favourite class of sex-obsessed teens.
There are many couple’s fans of Sex Education ‘ship’ together, but the underdogs are Ola Nyman and Lily Iglehart. Well thankfully, season three will continue to develop their budding relationship on screen.
Fans look forward to seeing more of their relationship develop and are constantly searching for little nuggets of them on screen. Ola's sex life seems to be of particular interest, with 'Did Otis and Ola sleep together?' a breakout search term for the character, as well as 'Does Ola get with Lily?'. Now, a screen grab of Ola and Lily kissing in the season three trailer sent fans wild on Twitter.
Cast your mind back to season two, when Ola (played by Patricia Allison) goes through a real journey as she starts to question her sexuality after taking an online quiz. Ola later realises that she identifies as pansexual.
In this moment Ola provides visibility for the pansexual community, too. Patricia Allison told Teen Vogue, ' Ola is just the kind of character to me that I think from the beginning, you could never really put in a box. She really is the definition of pansexual, she will go based on the personality and who makes a laugh, and who catches her eye in that sparkly way.'
Patricia continued, 'I really like that we show that side of sexuality too, because a lot of young people are trying to figure out what sort of box they go in — there's other ways that you can put your sexuality into. Pansexuality is also something that's never really been discussed properly before.'
Eventually coming to the realisation that she is pansexual helps Ola understand her feelings for Lily (her fan-fiction obsessed friend who she starts to have hot dreams about).
Over time Ola begins to equate that her attraction to someone is not limited by gender and this is when her feelings for Lily come into fruition. Lily takes more time to accept the spark between them, but when they both eventually come together it works like a dream - pun intended.
Fans fell in love with how their relationship blossomed unexpectedly. Although Ola was once with Otis (no, they didn't have sex in the end!) her journey now becomes much more than simply being Otis’s girlfriend. While yes, at the start not many people saw Ola and Lily’s best friends-to-lover’s arc coming, but by the end of season two they made perfect sense together.
The couples’ weird, quirky, and relatable dynamic is endearing for many, and they appear to have the healthiest relationship out of the entire group.
But what does season three have in store for the couple? The cast have remained tight-lipped but judging from the trailer they seem very much still together!
Who plays Ola Nyman in Sex Education ?
Patricia Allison plays Ola Nyman on Sex Education. In her early years as an actress, she was trained in Musical Theatre at the Colchester Institute, followed by the East 15 Acting School in Essex.
Patricia guest starred in BBC mini-series Misérables and BBC drama ‘Moving On’ before landing the role of Ola in the comedy-drama series.
In 2020 her role was promoted to main character and in season 2 we saw more of Ola on our screens.
