It's the news Sex and The City fans have been dying for since ... well, the death of Mr Big. The other love of Carrie's life, Aidan, will have a 'substantial, multi-episode arc' in And Just Like That...season two, and the newly released trailer seems to prove it. Season two comes out in June this year, and a reunion between Carrie and Aidan has been heavily teased in the trailer.
We see Carrie talking about having 'exit out of grief sex' with different men in the trailer. However, in the final line of the voice over she says, 'some things are better left in the past, but maybe not everything...' and it cuts to Aidan standing at the bottom of her famous apartment steps. And just like that, we're hooked!
Since Big dying, Carrie has been back on the dating scene and Aidan must have been hanging around New York City, too, as we found out in AJLT that Steve still owns the bar the pair set up.
In April last year, Aidan himself - John Corbett - confirmed that he'd be appearing in a few episodes of the reboot and now it's really happening.
But when Aidan does make an appearance, he deserves better than to get back together with his ex-fiancé Carrie - even if he did force her to quit smoking - and here's why.
-
Of course, number one on this list is when she cheated on Aidan with Mr Unreliable, aka Big. Aidan's scream of 'YOU BROKE MY HEART!' still haunts me to this very day.
-
She invited Big round when she staying on a retreat with Aidan. Her excuse? Big was a little sad that he'd been dumped by a movie star. Yep, she invited the man she cheated with, to a weekend break with the man she cheated on. Honestly, what the bloody hell was Carrie thinking? (Have to admit, it was kind of worth it to watch Aidan and Big fight though.)
-
Despite his flaws, and what some would call possessive behaviour, Aidan was very generous, such as when he bought Carrie a new MacBook after her old one broke. But what did she do? Oh yeah, just complain and snap at him that she wanted her old one back. FFS.
-
She literally didn't wear the engagement ring he gave her - and instead wore it on a necklace around her neck. She really shouldn't have said yes to his proposal.
-
In an even bigger financial gesture, Aidan bought Carrie's apartment for her - and she still broke up with him. (Also, she then got angry at Charlotte for not offering her help to buy the flat back. As Charlotte pointed out, she is a 35-year-old woman who should have a bit more financial responsibility than spending all of her money on shoes.)
-
At the beginning of their relationship, Carrie slammed the door in Aidan's face when he didn't want to sleep with her straight away. Can you imagine that happening the other way around? If it did, there would be uproar - but the truth is, it's not fair either way.
-
Carrie repeatedly couldn't deal with the fact that her relationship with Aidan was 'anxiety-free', and that, unlike Big, he was open and honest. She freaked out when he wanted her to meet his parents, unlike Big, who 'kept her from his mother like a leper'.
