Devoted dog lovers will have resonated with the overwhelming pain Selling Sunset's Mary Bonnet and Jason Oppenheim endured in season eight, when they lost their chihuahua mix, Niko. Cameras captured the raw, unfiltered emotion as Jason, 47, told Mary, 44, that they had days left with their 18-year-old pooch, who died on 29 February from kidney failure. But, as Jason and Mary - who share custody of two other dogs, Zelda and Thor - broke down inconsolably while attempting to come to terms with the news, fans were distracted by their unmoving, tearless faces.

Taking to X, Selling Sunset viewers sympathised with Jason and Mary, who have remained extremely close since they broke up before first filming the Netflix show. But in the same breath, many fans found humour in such a distressing scene.

One tweet sharing the clip of the exes crying read, 'I can’t get over how heartbreaking this scene is and yet because of the sheer amount of Botox, if you mute the video it looks like they’re laughing.'

A second Selling Sunset fan agreed, writing, 'Mary and Jason’s sobbing scene honestly had me in stitches. I am so sorry, the tears and the Botox were really fighting each other,' as a third tweeted, 'The dog scene in _Selling Sunse_t where Mary and Jason are crying but looks like they're laughing cause of their Botox lives rent-free in my head.'

Curious Selling Sunset fans often search for before and after photos of the cast, but many of the stars have not kept any plastic and cosmetic surgery a secret.

In 2022, Sculp DTLA, a medical spa in Los Angeles, said on TikTok that it was a 'pleasure' having Mary come in to have Botox. The realtor replied, 'My fav place'.

As for Mary's Oppenheim Group boss, Jason hasn't ever divulged if he has had tweakments. But that being said, Dr. Spiegel, a facial plastic surgeon based in Boston, is confident that the real estate tycoon has had Botox.

Talking over a photo of Jason and his twin brother Brett, she said on TikTok in 2022, 'Jason, looking great these days. Look at that Botox over there, making your forehead a little shiny. Looking awesome.'

In February, Jason and Mary shared a collaborative Instagram post mourning the loss of Niko.

'With the heaviest hearts we write this letter to you our sweet baby boy, for 18 years you made us smile and laugh, and filled our world with immeasurable happiness,' they began.

Lauding his 'unconditional love and loyalty', the duo reflected on how Niko lifted them in times of need and taught them valuable lessons, before celebrating his resilience in his tougher days.

They wrote, 'Even at the very end when your body and mind were failing and beyond exhausted, you still tirelessly struggled to hold on for us, refusing to give in. It was our turn to be selfless, and strong for you. Tearing our own hearts out so we could help you to avoid suffering was the only loving option we had. It was the hardest thing we have ever done. If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever. We miss you so much already, but you’re at peace now.

'We know you are still with us, just in a different form. We struggle to find the words to describe our feelings for you, because nothing can express the love and joy that fill our hearts, where you will always remain. You have changed our lives forever. Until we make it to where you are, we are sending you all of our love, you are forever and always our baby boy. Our bubby, our Niko.'
