The summer edition of Love Island now feels like it was years ago. But, if you can think back that far in time, you’ll remember that the show starred not one, but two, celebrity siblings: Curtis Pritchard, brother of Strictly professional AJ, and Tommy Fury, the younger half-brother of boxer, Tyson. For 2020, the producers don’t seem to be straying from picking famous people’s relatives, as, according to The Sun{
It was previously reported that Sophie would be strutting into the summer series alongside Curtis and Tommy{
It's a known recipe for success. Earlier this year,TV psychologist Jo Hemmings told Grazia that producers like to sign up celebrity siblings as they think there might be the chance of higher rating figures, and that people who are already kind of, sort of in the public eye might be better equipped to deal with the pressures of reality fame.
‘I think that they think by getting in celebrity siblings that it will have an impact on the ratings,’ she said. ‘Because people who are fans of those celebrities will tune in to see their siblings and how they perform. But if you have a celebrity sibling, you will have seen what they’ve been through - and [their sibling] will be able to advise. So I think they are trying to minimise the risk, both in terms of viewing figures and in terms of how these people might cope and what back-up they might have.’
Love Island hits screens on Sunday January 12 - and we can't wait.
