Pamela Anderson's life, specifically her marriage to Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, was dramatised last year in the series Pam & Tommy and won tremendous acclaim. Lily James and Sebastian Stan stepped into the shoes of the infamous couple for the biographical series, which chronicled their marriage during the time their unauthorised sex tape was stolen and distributed over the Internet.

But there was just one issue. Pam - who became a household name in the 90s with her successful Playboy career - reportedly felt 'violated' by the Hulu series and did not want to be involved.

Now, the 90s pin-up, 55, is at the helm of a new 'intimate and humanising' Netflix documentary, Pamela, a love story' which explores her life, career, and the romances in between.

Here is everything we know...

When is the Pamela Anderson documentary on Netflix?

The documentary - which is called 'Pamela, a love story' will drop on 31 January.

The official synopsis adds that the documentary film will explore Pamela's journey from a small-town girl to international sex symbol, actress, activist and doting mother.

What has Pamela Anderson said about the documentary?

Pamela and Tommy share two sons, Brandon, 26 - who is a producer on the documentary and appears on film - and Dylan, 24. In an email to Vanity Fair, the mum of two praises Brandon for encouraging her to open up.

She wrote, 'Brandon can talk me into anything with his sincere heart and a fierceness that only a son could have. He wanted to tell my story, authentically and without distortion.'

Director Ryan White (best known for his Netflix series The Keepers and the HBO movie The Case Against 8) revealed that Pam sat down with him for interviews without makeup and answered questions for hours on end, as well as giving access to decades’ worth of home movies and journals, without overseeing them first.

Pamela describes herself as a hopeless romantic, with Ryan telling Vanity Fair, 'All of her husbands [Tommy Lee, Kid Rock, Rick Salomon, Jon Peters and Dan Hayhurst] are a part of her story, so they’re in our film, including the most recent one. And no matter how many times it hasn’t worked out for her, she still is a hopeless romantic and looking for true love in every way.'

The documentary will also delve into Pam's rehearsals for her Broadway debut in Chicago, where she is playing Roxie Hart.

Pamela Anderson's book

The 31 January documentary release will coincide with Pamela's memoir Love, Pamela, which will be released the same day and is a similarly candid confessional.
