Ever since Ollie Williams entered the Love Island villa, many viewers were not won over by his blond hair and perfect abs. Why? Oh, just a small thing: a few pictures of him posing with dead animals, killed on hunts. When he left the show - saying that he had realised that he loved his ex-girlfriend - he discovered the controversy, calling himself a 'conservationist' and saying that he had not personally shot the animals in question. But evidently he did sell one.

According to The Sun, Ollie listed a stuffed buffalo mount on eBay. He had previously bought the piece of taxidermy at auction, but was selling it on, described on the site as 'used' with an offering of courier delivery from Egham in Surrey, where Ollie was at university.

'Ollie had gone to Holts auctioneers in Norfolk in June and spotted this cape buffalo shoulder mount', The Sun's source adds. 'He thought it would be an investment and hoped he'd be able to sell it and make a profit but nobody ever bought it.'

When the images first emerged, a petition garnered over 40,000 signatures to get Ollie booted off the programme. Even ex-contestants Curtis Pritchard and Olivia Attwood got involved, and voiced their doubts about whether his reason for leaving was genuine.

But bosses have since hit back, saying that Ollie had no idea about the press stories that were circulating while he was in the villa. ‘Ollie made the decision to leave off his own back and explained his reasons for doing so in his quote,’ a Love Island spokesperson said. ‘He was not made aware while he was in the villa of any press stories running about him but, as with all Islanders, since leaving the villa he has now been briefed as to what has been written and said about him as part of our duty of care.’ They concluded: ‘We will be supporting Ollie as he leaves the villa.’
