There have been numerous shocking revelations on Selling Sunset series six so far, but perhaps the most surprising was the news that dads can stop paying child support after reaching ten kids. What?
Following newbie Bre Tiesi’s revelation on the subject after she found out that her baby daddy Nick Cannon had welcomed his ninth child whilst on a night out with Chrishell Stause and Chelsea Lazkani, we immediately got to googling.
Turns out that’s not entirely true.
There don’t seem to be any official records on this, but generally lawyers agree that no matter how many kids you welcome to the world, you still have to pay child support to their main caregiver, at least until the kids turn 16 or leave full-time education.
If that was the case though, Nick Cannon is one of the few people out there who that could work in favour for because – as of 23 May 2023 – Nick Cannon has 12 kids.
Nick first daughter Monroe Cannon – who he shares with singer Mariah Carey - was born 30 April 2011 as was her twin brother Moroccan. Then, following his divorce from Mariah, on 21 February 2017 his son Golden was born to model Brittany Bell who then welcomed baby number four, Powerful, in December 2020.
On 14 June 2021, Nick and Abby De La Rosa welcomed twins Zion and Zillion, followed by Zen on 23 June 2021 with model Alyssa Scott. Sadly Zen was born with a brain tumour and passed away shortly afterwards.
Selling Sunset’s Bre Tiesi welcomed Nick’s eighth child Legendary in July 2022. Speaking about their arrangement for childcare she admitted on the show, ‘There’s no legal agreement. I take care of myself and if my son needs something or we need something, I can ask. That’s all I have to do. Nick is not my sugar daddy.’
To be fair, with some of the commissions on these million-dollar properties, it doesn’t look like Bre is in any need of someone to help financially support her!
Baby number nine: Onyx was born 14 September 2022 to model Lanisha Cole, then Rise came just nine days later on 23 September 2022. He’s Nick and Brittany Bell’s third child together. Abby de la Rosa’s third child with Nick came on 11 November 2022 with the birth of Zeppelin.
The final baby, baby number 12 came when Nick and Alyssa Scott welcomed daughter Halo on 29 December 2022.
Bre’s baby Legendary Love is now ten months old and it’s clear that the model-turned-realtor couldn’t be happier with her little one and the situation between her and Nick, despite everything Chelsea seems to be saying.
