As Oscar season approaches, we start to see more and more potential nominees emerge and ‘Jackie’ is no exception. Jackie places us ‘in a world during the days immediately following her husband’s assassination”. The trailer shows us Jacqueline Kennedy in that iconic pink Chanel suit, but that is where the familiarity of her public reputation ends.
In what has been labelled Natalie Portman’s ‘best performance yet’, the film focuses on how the first lady dealt with the grief and trauma that came with losing her husband as well as defining his legacy. Said to be framed around the LIFE interview she gave just a week after JFK’s death, it investigates her infamous composure and allows us to see her in a new light.
The film has received Best Screenplay at the Venice Film Festival and The Platform Prize at The Toronto Film Festivalso it looks set to dominate this award season. The trailer is stunning and Portman’s performance looks breath-taking, we can’t wait for this one to hit the screens here at The Debrief HQ.
No confirmed UK release date as of yet but we can expect it to follow shortly after the US on December 2nd.
