She's got a whopping 13 million YouTube subscribers, and a billion views across her videos. She's arguably one of the most successful online figures of our time, and she's landing on Netflix next month. Parents rejoice: Ms. Rachel has a new series available from 27 January.
Rachel Accurso's educational videos have become a huge online phenomenon, and she's now got four episodes set to drop on the streaming platform later this month, with more arriving later in the year. Episodes will be in English and subtitles for 33 languages.
The YouTuber's videos incorporate singing, dancing and play, and she helps children communicate and express their feelings.
Wearing her trademark pink hairband, Ms. Rachel shared the news on Instagram on Tuesday, saying, 'Soon you can also watch Ms. Rachel on Netflix!'
Netflix has shared the upcoming episodes will include interactive lessons on letters, numbers, colours, shapes, and more. In a profile for the New York Times, Ms Rachel was described as 'Beyoncé for toddlers'.
Ms. Rachel was inspired to launch her channel after her son, Thomas, was diagnosed with a speech delay. ‘His first word was at 2 years and 8 months and it was 'mama' and I had waited for that for so long,’ Accurso said in an interview. ‘As a parent you want to do anything you can to help them and it's not our fault when our child has a speech delay. A lot of things I teach are things I wish I had known for my son.’ She adds, ‘I kept searching for this show for him and we couldn't find it, so I was like, maybe we can try to create it and maybe it would help more kids.’
In a statement on its blog Netflix wrote, 'As any parent — or anyone else with a small child in their lives — likely already knows, Rachel Accurso, or Ms. Rachel, is a beloved and passionate educator whose videos for her phenomenally popular YouTube channel inspire “littles” and their families to learn and bond together.'
It added that Ms. Rachel’s first four episodes will be: Hop Little Bunnies — Plus More Songs and Nursery rhymes, Learn to Talk — “What’s in the Box?” Speech and Toddler Learning, Baby Learning — First words, Milestones, Nursery Rhymes, and Songs and Learn to Read — Phonics, ABCs, and Preschool Learning.
Reception to the news was overwhelmingly positive, with one person writing on the Instagram post, 'I’m all here for Miss Rachel to be the biggest billionaire of all time cause she deserves it!! Move over Elon Musk!!'
Another wrote, 'Of all the people to get that bag, Ms. Rachel deserves it the most.'
