Aside from wanting to see a different side of the super influencer, most people watching Molly-Mae: Behind It All, which landed on Amazon Prime on 17 January, are intrigued to know what really happened between her and Tommy Fury.

The couple broke up last August after five years together, with Molly-Mae sharing the news via her Instagram story to say she 'never expected' it to happen 'especially not in this way'. It came as a particular shock (even prompting a Sky News push notification), because the couple were engaged.

Tommy had proposed the previous July on a rose scattered cliff top in Ibiza as a tearful Molly-Mae and their daughter, Bambi, were both dressed in white. In fact, three weeks before the break up was announced, Molly-Mae shared a video from their engagement on social media and wrote, 'One year ago today I was tricked into going on a fake brand trip on which the love of my life would ask me to marry him.'

What was Molly-Mae and Tommy's engagement song?

In her docuseries, Molly-Mae goes into detail about the day of Tommy's proposal, the argument they had just before it happened and why the song he had playing on the clifftop means so much to her. Her engagement song is 'The Vow' by RuthAnne and it was released in 2019, the year the couple met on Love Island.

In fact, it was the song used in the season finale of Love Island that played when the couples were reunited after getting dressed up for their final evening together. At the time the singer wrote, 'I can’t believe my track ‘The Vow’ was played on the @loveisland final - it’s getting a crazy reaction! Thank you for all the messages and support.'

'She sings my favourite song, just like the most unbelievable lyrics,' Molly-Mae says while watching the video back, 'and I always thought that would be the song that played as I walk down the aisle.' RuthAnne even shared the clip on her Instagram in 2023 to celebrate their engagement. 'Incredible to be part of this special moment for @mollymae and @tommyfury,' she wrote. 'Congratulations. Can’t believe this song has become a soundtrack for these special moments.'

While it all looked picture perfect on social media, Molly-Mae also revealed that she and Tommy had an argument just before the proposal because she wanted to see pictures they had taken on his phone and he wouldn't let her.

‘Obviously then I’m thinking why aren’t you letting me on your phone? Up until the point of pulling up in the car I thought I was going to a dinner. I was that oblivious,' she recalls. 'I was looking out the window like I was in a sad music video thinking he had pictures of another woman on his phone or something.'

Of course, he was only trying to keep the proposal a secret, and ultimately it paid off. Molly-Mae was so surprised she burst into tears and the social media video was liked by more than 3.7 million people.

In Molly-Mae: Behind It All, she admitted that after everything that's happened, if she were to plan a wedding again now she would want to do things very differently. ‘If I was to plan my perfect wedding now it would be a vicar come to my house whilst Harry Potter’s on in the background,' she joked. 'Some snacks on the table and the vicar just marries us whilst we’re sat on the sofa in our pyjamas. That would be great.'
