Prepare to cancel on friends for three whole consecutive nights, eat a ton of take-away Nandos and probably not change out of your Primark button-down Pjs for the whole weekend because Make A Murderer is returning to Netflix with new episodes. Goodbye social life, hello Steven Avery.
The season will pick up where season one left off, looking into Steven Avery and his co-defandant, Brendan Dassey's case during the post-conviction process. Dean Strang and Jerry Buting won’t be making an appearance, sadly – those two are off living the life on tour – but the new season will show us exclusive interviews with Kathleen Zellner, Avery’s new lawyer, along with Laura Nerdier and Steve Drizin, Dassey’s new legal team.
The news was announced during a panel discussion at the IFC Center in New York with series directors Laura Ricciardo and Moira Demos. They both felt the story obviously wasn’t over, and wanted to expand the investigation with a new season, according to Variety: “We are extremely grateful for the tremendous response to, and support of, the series. The viewers’ interest and attention has ensured that the story is not over, and we are fully committed to contributing to document events as they unfold.” The release date is yet to be released, but we’ll keep you posted.
In the meantime, we want to express extreme thanks to the series directors, and to Netlix personally for allowing us all to continue on with the Making A Murderer journey.
