Barely a week on MAFS Australia goes by without some kind of scandal, whether that's arguments, cheating claims or tears - or, at the very least, the new use of a slur (we're looking at you, 'Bogan').
The latest couple to find themselves at the centre of a cheating scandal are Dave and Veronica after they were paired together for partner swap, where they were made to live together. Eliot, Veronica's husband, went to live with Rhi, and he slept on the sofa the whole time. Meanwhile, Jamie, Dave's wife, was sent to be with Adrian, who is Awhina's husband.
As the partner swap went on, fans of the show started to grow suspicious that Veronica and Dave were getting close. Fans quickly took to X to share their thoughts. 'Ok something defiantly happened with Dave and Veronica #MAFSAU,' wrote one user. Another wrote 'Is it just me or does anybody else think something happened between Dave and Veronica? He’s changed since. #mafs #MAFSAU #MAFSAustralia.' A third wrote 'Dave was intimate with Veronica in the partner swap. No other explanation. #MAFS #MAFSAUS #MAFSAU #MAFSAustralia.'
Did Dave cheat with Veronica?
On day two fans started to grow suspicious romance could be blossoming between the pair when they were filmed laughing in bed together. 'You got to be quicker than that boys!' Dave said to the camera man.
Dave later addressed this scene in an interview with Yahoo, insisting that while things didn't 'look good', nothing happened between the pair.
Obviously the way they edited it, yes, Veronica and I had fun and of course, it's going to come across and people are going to question some stuff. I got along with Veronica, there’s no denying that, but that’s all it was,' he told Yahoo. 'Also, you have to remember, I’d just been back from Melbourne, I did the retreat, did the dinner party, did the commitment ceremony, and I was exhausted. So to hang out with someone else was quite refreshing. That’s all it was.'
He continued: 'I’m not going to lie, it didn't look good. But I mean, you turn an awkward situation and you’re gonna laugh. The cameraman sort of busts in your room and tries to catch you asleep, and that's why I said, ‘You got to be quicker than that boys!’ Like, you’re not going to catch me sleeping. But sometimes you wake up and there's a microphone on a stick in your head. Honestly, there’s nothing in it. This is the internet. I know the outcome and I know what happens. I can't control what these people think but I can control my actions.'
Veronica has also denied any claims that something went down between her and Dave on the MAFS Funny Podcast. 'I find it so hilarious that this whole thing is circulating in this way. I’ve actually been abstinent for almost two years. I think everyone is just looking for someone to blame, to be honest, and I’m an easy target given how everything’s been unfolding for me recently,' she said.
What has Dave said about Veronica?
In a recent interview with The Daily Mail, Dave has addressed what it was really like with Veronica, and whether she was as 'difficult' as viewers were led to believe.
'I think Veronica’s great. I think this is a really hard… it’s a big TV show to be put on display like this,' he said, before explaining that the pressures of reality television can alter public perception, suggesting what viewers see may not be the full picture.
'You've seen how we got along, and I thought… it makes you really think. I think that her edit is getting chopped and changed, and it must be really rough for her to go through what she's going through at the moment,' he said.
Veronica hasn't publicly address the accusations that she has been unfairly portrayed.
